How Bay Can You Be was conceptualized as a marketing tool for The Bay Citizen and its partners. A partner would sponsor a weekly quiz and supply a prize for one randomly selected contestant who answered 5/5 questions correctly.
TBC’s marketing team came up with the idea and enlisted the help of a freelance designer to bring it to life since I was swamped in a number of other projects being the only designer on staff. When the final designs rolled in and were below our level of standards, project priorities were adjusted and I was assigned to the job.
Since the idea, goals and content had already been determined, it was simply a matter of improving the interface. I started with a quick moodboard to get the team inline with my vision of bright, playful colors and a strong call-to-action area. Once we were all on the same page, I knocked out a few sketches and then a quick wireframe to give everyone an idea of the structure.
